I invite you to join the community of St. Francis Xavier Church on our Stewardship journey.  Our parishioners have been learning, reflecting and embracing this Scripture-based way of living for more than six years.  Parishioners’ prayer lives, service to the parish and community and financial support of the parish (Time, Talent and Treasure) have grown over the years.

Although the concepts of Stewardship are rooted in Scripture, the “formal” introduction was provided in the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops’ 1992 pastoral letter, Stewardship: A Disciple’s Response.  I recommend you read the letter to better understand how Stewardship is to be a way of life.  (www.usccb.org)

Stewardship addresses what we do in our lives, but more importantly, how we do them.  May I leave with you the words from St. Luke’s Gospel: “To whom much has been given, much is expected.” Lk. 12:48.  “Much” should not be associated with only financial gain and success.  How much time can you spare for a richer, more focused prayer life?  What  talents and skills can you share by volunteering within our parish, school and neighborhood communities?

May we continue to acknowledge and appreciate our God-given gifts, talents and resources and return to our Sender those gifts to those in need, all for the glory of God.

Sincerely yours in Christ,
Rev. Tony Sejba, Pastor
